Hezbollah fires rockets towards Tiberias, clashes with Israeli forces in Lebanon

Hezbollah says it has fired a barrage of rockets at the Israeli city of Tiberias.
The militant group "fired a salvo of rockets at the city of Tiberias" in response to the Israeli bombardment of Lebanese "towns, villages and civilians", it said.
The group also says it has fought off a bid by the Israeli army to advance at a border point in southern Lebanon.
It "repelled with artillery fire an attempt by enemy Israeli forces to advance at Fatima Gate", it said, a day after Israel said eight of its soldiers had been killed in the region.
It added that it set off two explosives against the advancing Israeli forces.
It detonated the "explosive devices" at dawn as "an enemy Israeli infantry force carried out an infiltration attempt towards the town of Maroun al-Ras" located near the southern Lebanon border, it said.

"We will inform you when it is safe to return to your homes," he concluded.

A
By Aoife Hilton
A consultant working for Iran's Revolutionary Guards has died from injuries sustained in an Israeli air attack on the Syrian capital Damascus on Monday, Iran's Student News Network has reported.
It identified the consultant as Majid Divani, without giving further details.
The attack appeared to be the same as one reported by Syrian state media, which said on Tuesday that three civilians were killed and nine others injured in an Israeli air strike in Damascus.
State media previously reported Syrian air defences intercepted "hostile targets" over Damascus three times in a row in one night, following explosions that were heard in the capital.
When asked about the reported attack, the IDF said it does not comment on foreign media reports.

Update

By Esther Linder
Former army general Mick Ryan spoke to ABC NewsChannel earlier, saying further hostilities were likely between Iran and Israel after Tehran sent a barrage of ballistic missiles targeting Tel Aviv and Israeli military bases.
"We should expect some kind of direct response against Iran itself, probably more substantial than what we saw earlier ... how substantial is hard to know."
Mr Ryan said some of the Iranian missiles landed within Israeli air bases, but it's not been confirmed how much damage they caused.

Australian aid worker describes the situation in Beirut
K
By Kaitlin Easton
The ABC spoke to Australian aid worker Tess Ingram, who is currently in Beirut.
She described the impact of Israeli bombardment on children who had been pulled from their beds at 2am to evacuate.
Families are living in their cars, on the streets and at the beach, she said.
And up to 26 people are sharing a room at some of the 850 official shelters.
"I spoke to families and children at a shelter on Tuesday and I heard heartbreaking stories of families leaving their homes under the sound of bombs," Tess said.
"One little girl I spoke to, who was 10, said she only managed to pack her teddy bear and a change of clothes into her backpack. She was frightened and all she wanted was to get home safe.
"The shelter was very full, I've been told as many as 26 people are in one room and four people sharing one mattress."

Both domestic and international flights across Iran were grounded for security reasons until 5am local time on Thursday.
